Critical Papers Presented
(a) Gendered Development, Democracy and Disarmament: The Indian Experience - presented at the European Parliament, June 1998. (describing the mass upsurge of women in local government & initiatives in Parliament as well as monitoring of commitments of India at Beijing (the PFA).
(b) Taking stock of women status: Trends in Planning and Advocacy in "Social Welfare" Journal of Central Social Welfare Board, Government of Indian August-September 1997.
(c) High Risk Children and Women: Issues, Constraints and Strategies - Presented at the National level seminar on "Protection of the high-risk children: 31st Jan - 2nd Feb.2000, Bhubaneshwar, Orissa.
The paper focused on:
- Presenting a situational analysis of the trafficking of children within a poverty context; a gender and poverty disparity profile.
- Underlining the government policies and research undertaken on trafficking of women and children in India, particularly the risk prone areas within the context of certain variables (disaster, industrialization, globalization, drought prone areas, ports, urban informal sector etc.)
- It also emphasized legal and constitutional safeguards available in relation to children / women.
- It also provided several recommendations to combat the trafficking of women and children with a view to long and short term measures to be implemented by several actors i.e., the state, civil society (including the media), corporate sector etc
(d) Gender Perspectives of state Interventions in India - Presented at the International level workshop on "Family and Gender: Changing patterns of family and gender values in Europe and India", 1 - 4th March, 2000, Neemrana Fort Palace, Rajasthan. (Later published in the volume on Gender and Family in India and Germany, Konrad Adenauer Stiftuing, 2003)
The paper focussed on:
- State interventions in gender and family in India both in;
- Pre Independence India (particularly the early legislation supported by the reformists that were influenced by antiquated British jurisprudence with regards to women's personal laws)
- and post independence period (tracing the limitations of the hindu code bill in the context of women's position in the family, deliniating the women's role conceptualized in development planning in the five year plans and the various policies, programs and schemes).

It also examines the impact of the land legislations as an imstrument to improve the position of women.

Focus has also been on review of health, family welfare policies and educational policies as instrument for promotion of gender equality.

All five-year plans were analysed in terms of policies and programs for gender (development, rights etc.)
As resource person presenting talks/ lectures at workshops / seminars in India and Abroad
- Was chairperson at the IFAD’s Asia Strategy Workshop on Women (August 2001) on the session on New Delhi.
- Invited by UNIFEM / GROOTS to be a panelist on ‘Gender & Economic Policy Reform’ at the UN Plaza, March 14-17th 1995, New York held during the 2nd Prepcom to the World Conference of Women at Beijing.
- Invited to present the Indian National Perspective Plan for Women 1988-2000 and to be a resource person for the UNDP, Training Program ‘Gender Analysis in project Planning’ at Jakarta, Indonesia from 16-19 May, 1989, (Personal Invitation).
- Technical Advisor and Institutional Plan Presenter in the plenary of one of 2 best practices at the Asia/Pacific Micro-credit Summit at New Delhi (2001)
- Organized a National Workshop on "Gender and Politics of the Environment" and GROOTS S. Asia (leading environmentalists, Women's groups, policy persons, discussed debated on issues of a forestry / waste land development, Agrobased Industries, Dams / Irrigation Projects, relevance of Government Forestry Schemes, earthquake / famine laws, tribal and minor forest produce in the context of gender strategies such as gender sensitization of foresters, NGO activism, grass roots initiatives were also debated and recommended to Government (December 1991).
- Presented the results of “The Innovative Young Men Combating GBV” at the International Foundation for Election Systems Washington D.C (June 2006).
- Presented “Status of Women in India: Current Trends ” at M.I.T, Boston (July 2006).
